Rules and Regulations

 

 

  1. Applicants must be no older than 19 years of age and no younger than 15 years old by June 21, 2017.
  2. Contestant must be single, never married, never given birth to a child, and must be born as a female.
  3. Contestant must be of good mental health and of good moral character.
  4. Contestant must either have been born in Jamaica or be the (biological) child of a Jamaican national.
  5. All decisions as to the eligibility of the contestants shall be solely determined by the Miss Jamaica Contest organizers.
  6. Employees of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited and members of their immediate families are not eligible to enter the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest.
  7. All decisions of the Judges are final and irrevocable.
  8. Any Contestant and/ or family member or guest deemed by the organizers of the Miss Teen Jamaica Limited in the 2017-2018 to be showing unsportsmanlike behavior may result in the disqualification of the said contest.
  9. Contestants in the 2017-2018 Miss Teen Jamaica Contest must not contact any sponsor or judges; participate in any interviews to any media houses or make any public appearances in such capacities without prior written permission at least two weeks prior or in such manner as the organizers of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest shall deem fit. Failure to obtain permission may result in the disqualification of the said contestant.
  10. Contestant in the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 shall not participate in any other competition, while as a current contestant. Any contrary act may result in the disqualification of the said contestant.
  11. Disqualification of a contestant is to the sole discretion of the organizers of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited shall take immediate effect. Where a contestant is disqualified, there shall be no refund of monies paid out by The Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited to the said contestant, parent(s), guardian of the contestant, or affiliates of the said contestant.
  12. Contestants hereby agree that the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited and/or its Directors shall not be subject to any claim where the entrant or contestant’s image, voice, name, biography, and/or likeness is used by the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited in connection with the Contest’s promotional or advertising material.
  13. Contestant should never be late or absent for any appearance or rehearsal.
  14. Contestant should not wear any heel that exceeds 41/2 inches.
  15. The Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited reserves the right to change the date and location of any of its events once notice of such change is given in the electronic or print media within a reasonable time.
  16. The contestant of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 title must behave in a manner that is befitting of Miss Teen Jamaica and must not bring the contest, organizers, workers, agents, and/or affiliates into disrepute.
  17. Any contestant/queen of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 who has a social media account, and any posts made on such account should be professional and free of any vulgarity, which could cause disqualification of the contestant and expulsion of the queen.
  18. The contestant and/ or the winner of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 must maintain a well groomed appearance and behave in a manner benefitting of Miss Teen Jamaica at all times.
  19. The Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited shall not be responsible for any injury loss or damage incurred by any entrant, family member and/or guest during, or in travelling to and/ from any of the events of the Miss Teen Jamaica Limited (including, courtesy calls, appearances or rehearsals.
  20. The contestant or winner of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest 2017-2018 must be available to attend all assignments affiliated with the said contests, unless there are compelling/overriding circumstances or reasons to make her attendance impossible or unreasonable. If she is unable to attend any assignments as aforesaid, she must give written notice, no less than five (5) days to the Organizers of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest outlining the circumstances surrounding her unavailability for any assignments as aforesaid.
  21. The winner of Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 title shall utilize any scholarship made available through the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 contest within a year after completing her studies at the secondary level. If she fails to utilize the scholarship by such time, it will be within the organizers’ sole discretion to award the scholarship to any other finalist in the 2016 contest.
  22. The winner of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest 2017-2018 title shall be allowed by her parent/guardian to go on her prize trip with a chaperone to be appointed by the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest.
  23. It is further understood that if the parent or any other family member of the winner of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 title wishes to accompany her on her prize trip, it shall be that individual’s sole responsibility to pay any expenses such as accommodation, air fare, food or other incidental expenses he/she may incur.
  24. Where the winner of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 title is unable to attend upon her prize trip within the year after her coronation for any reason, whether directly or indirectly, that is not at fault of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited, there will be no substitute of any kind for the said prize trip.
  25. The organizers of the Miss Teen Jamaica Limited is not responsible to provide the fee of passport or visa, if the queen is not in possession of such items.
  26. Failure to comply with any or all of the covenants may result in the expulsion of the recipient of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 as Miss Teen Jamaica 2016-2017 and the installation of the 1st Runner-Up as Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018.
  27. Such expulsion is to the sole discretion of the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited, and where the recipient of the Miss Teen Jamaica 2017-2018 title is so expelled, she is required to return the Miss Teen Jamaica Contest Limited all prizes received in said capacity, as well as the crown and sash.
